It’s time for Five Minute Friday over on Katemotaung’s blog! Set the timer, write for five minutes, and post! Today’s word prompt:
We reached a milestone this week.
My little grandson, Sawyer, is now old enough to ride the kiddie rides.
I want to cry my eyes out.
That little squishy, fat, roly poly baby of last year is now a 22 month old all-out, full blast ball of determination.
His mother put him on the ride, slowly walked away, and said, “Bye, Sawyer”. It was an emotional moment.
I’m glad I wasn’t there.
I would have melted right there and they would have had to carry me away.
He wanted her to get in the car with him at first.
But then the ride started, and he realized he was free.
And having a blast.
After that, he didn’t want to get off.
And after every other ride, he did not want to get off.
He even got called down by one of the ride operators for trying to stand in his seat (oh my word, he’s just like his mama).
God has declared us free in Christ.
Free to what?
He walks away and lovingly says goodbye.
But He’s not gone.
He’s still there, watching.
Even when we, in our own determination, decide to stand up and do it our own way.
He sends someone in there to correct us and sit us back down.
We are free in Christ!
And then, sometimes we don’t WANNA GET OFF!!
And God says, “It’s time.”
And we must follow.
Because we are free to follow.
We are free to obey.
And that is the best taste of freedom there is.
“Stand fast, therefore, in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free. And be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1
